The Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church Scholarships Fund
Background:
These scholarships were established by separate gifts from Arthur Norha and Esther Beth Wiljamaa Norha, Paul Engman, Siiri I McCarty, and Neil Laituri. The principals are invested in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund and the incomes are made available to provide college scholarships.
1. Applicants must be accepted at an accredited college, vocational school, or graduate school at the time of application.
2. Applicants must be members of Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
3. Per requests of the benefactors, preference will be given to applicants interested in pursuing elementary education, the culinary arts, or professional church work.
4. Preference will be given to applicants actively involved in both congregational and extra-curricular school/community activities.
5. Preference will be given to first-time applicants.
6. Applications may be picked up from the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Office or can be downloaded here: Scholarship Application.
7. Applications must be submitted by April 1st to: The Scholarship Committee, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 901 South Fourth Street, Virginia, Minnesota 55792.
8. All scholarships will be granted at the discretion of The Scholarship Committee of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, with recipients informed by May 1st. Awards will be given during a special ceremony for graduating seniors at the 9:30 AM worship service on Sunday May 25th, 2008.
