Discipleship: Christian faith in practice
As Christians, what are we suppose to be doing? How are we suppose to live? What does Christ Jesus expect of us? Since the first apostolic generation of Peter and Paul, there has been a general consensus regarding the primary ways of expressing the Christian Faith. These ways of piety or living out the Faith have been consistent over the twenty-century history of the Church. These actions are firmly grounded in the Scriptures and traditions of the Church. Recently, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has summarized these actions as seven Living Faith Practices:
- Pray frequently
- Study Scripture diligently
- Worship regularly
- Invite others often
- Pass on the Faith
- Serve for the sake of others
- Give freely
Everything we do in the Church is desired to be consistent with these biblically-based faith practices.
