What do we believe?
As Lutheran Christians called to be members of the body of Christ assembled as Gethsemane Lutheran Church,
- We believe in one God in three persons, the Holy Trinity, the creating Father, the redeeming Son, the sanctifying Holy Spirit.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Lord. Because of the way He lived, died, and rose, He has made possible for us the forgiveness of our sins, as well as newness of life, abundant life, and eternal life.
- We believe the Holy Spirit calls us to faith, gathers us, and empowers us for holy living and effective service.
- We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the authority in all matters of faith and life. We believe that the Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe.
- We believe the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion give people forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.
- We believe in the priesthood of all believers, that every Christian has been given gifts by God and are called to use those gifts in ministry to other in Christ's name.
- We accept the Ecumenical Creeds--the Apostles', the Nicene, and the Athanasian--as true declarations of faith, and we accept The Augsburg Confession and The Small Catechism as true witnesses to the Gospel.
