October 31, 1517, is the day credited for the posting of the Ninety-five Theses by Martin Luther and the start of the Protestant Reformation. On September 6 we will hold weekly discussions for adults of Luther’s Small Catechism. It will be offered three times on each Wednesday. On September 17 we will plant 500 trees with neighboring congregations in an area identified by the U.S. Forest Service. There are many legends about Luther and trees, including this famous quote: “If I knew that tomorrow was the end of the world, I would plant an apple tree today.” On October 28 there will be a Reformation Fest at Camp Vermilion. It will include such things as a 5K run/walk, beer sampling, and a hymn sing. On October 29 we will have a special Reformation service.
