Bible Study Groups at Gethsemane

All Church Summer Bible Study Wednesdays July 29th - September 2nd

Does summer activities have you away from worship on Sundays? Are you looking for some conversation with others about Jesus? Have you been thinking about our community? On Wednesday evenings for 6 weeks at Gethsemane Lutheran Church from 6-7pm, we are taking a journey through The Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew, and we'd love for you to join our conversation.  Starting on August 5th, I will be utilizing the book Contrast Community - Practicing the Sermon on the Mount by James L. Bailey and the Bible to guide us on this walk through the Sermon on the Mount.  The book can be purchased online through Amazon in paperback or Kindle format and also through Barnes & Nobles's eBook. Do you need to have the book to attend? What if you can't make it each week?  You do not need to have the book to join us, bring your Bible and attend on weeks that fits your schedule.  During our time we will review points James L Bailey brings forward about that week's scripture focus, however the focus of time spent together will be discussion on the scripture, our thoughts, and Community.  Depending on the size of the weekly group we could have one large group discussion or table discussions. Men's Bible Study to Resume in the Fall

Women's Bible Study - 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 5:00 PM September-May

This women's group chooses their study materials together depending on the spiritual needs and interests of the participants.

The plan for this study will updated after our fist session on January 28th.

Fall study: "daring joy" by Nicole Zasowski

During our time together we will be watching a video and discussing questions from the study book.

 In the recent past they have studied "Seamless: Understanding the Bible as One Complete Story" by Angie Smith and "Defiant Joy" by Candace Payne. They have also completed, "Discerning the Voice of God" by Priscilla Shirer and "Fierce - Women of the Bible who changed the World" by Jennifer Cowart.  In the fall of 2024 studied Lisa Harper's "Fierce Jesus" Book/Bible Study. The spring session of 2025 we dove into Kristi McClelland's "Luke in the Land." This group meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month during the school year and intermittently in the summer. They not only dig into Bible study together, but support one another in prayer, do service projects together, and enjoy fun activities! For more information, contact the church office.


Thursday Morning Bible Study - most weeks, 8:30 AM

This is a smaller group that meets to study the word and enjoy coffee together, It is not necessarily only for women, but right now only women are attending. They follow a bible study guide to discuss the Word and how it relates to their lives. For more information, contact the church office.
